Color Guard
Color Guard
What is Color Guard?
Color guard is an auxiliary program within the James Clemens Marching Band program. You learn to use a variety of equipment such as flags, rifles, and sabers which enhances the music of the marching band show. The marching band, color guard, and dance line perform during football games at halftime and compete at competitions during the fall semester.
You do not have to have any prior experience to audition for color guard. Auditions for color guard are normally in April. Audition information can be found on the color guard section of the jcjetsband.com website. You can find videos of past performances on YouTube by searching for James Clemens High School Band.
Follow us on Instagram and Twitter for updates and information throughout the season.
What is Winter Guard?
Winter Guard is the spring version of color guard without the band. You have to be a member of the color guard team to audition for winter guard. Auditions are normally held sometime toward the end of football season or after football season ends. Winter guard season runs from the middle of January to mid March/early April.
Practices start before fall semester is over and pick up when school starts back in January. Practices are all after school and all day competitions are on Saturdays. Cost for this activity is between $250-$300 dollars. We try to keep the cost as low as possible.
